| File | Bambu Studio said | Actual problem | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| 40 × 20 × 12 mm block, one small square missing | Info: 4 open edges | One small hole | G-code identical to the closed block |
| Same block, bottom face missing | Info: 16 open edges | Whole bottom face missing | G-code identical to the closed block |
| Two 20 mm cubes merged, wall left between them | Info: 4 open edges | Internal wall (4 non-manifold edges in FixSTL) | G-code identical to the clean 40 mm tower |
| 40 × 20 mm surface, no thickness | Info: 16 open edges | Open sheet, height 0 | Nothing to slice: the plate was reported empty |

What is going on
In our tests Bambu Studio's slicing closed these gaps by itself: the G-code was identical to the clean part. It also reports an internal wall between two merged parts as open edges; FixSTL counts those as non-manifold edges.
The notice cannot tell a hole from a sheet. A plane with no thickness encloses no volume, so there is nothing to fill, whatever the edge count. Bambu's wiki says it "can only detect and repair some errors" (Fix Model).
58 of the 200 public test files showed this notice; FixSTL repaired 13 of them to a verified solid.
What was actually wrong
How to fix it
- Check the file in FixSTL to see whether the open edges are holes, an internal wall or a surface with no thickness.
- Repair holes and flipped faces in FixSTL. Give a sheet thickness in your modelling program instead.
- Re-import into Bambu Studio and check that the notice is gone.
- Scrub the layer preview through the area that was open.
