Privacy policy

Your STL files are processed in your browser and are not uploaded. We count how the tool is used without cookies or stored identifiers. This page explains exactly what that covers.

Who we are

FixSTL (fixstl.ai) is operated by Holymolly Limited, the company behind Tripo, which is responsible for the personal information described here. Address: Room 3A-8, 12/F, Kaiser Centre, 18 Centre Street, Sai Ying Pun, Hong Kong.

For privacy questions or requests, email our privacy officer at privacy@tripo3d.ai. For anything else about FixSTL, email hello@fixstl.ai.

Your model files

When you choose or drop an STL, your browser reads it and runs inspection and repair on your device in a background Web Worker. The file, its geometry and its name are not sent to our servers or to anyone else. The repaired file is produced in your browser and saved directly to your device; when you repair several files, the zip is also built in your browser.

The file stays in the page’s memory only while you work with it. Closing or refreshing the page clears it.

FixSTL has no feature that uploads your model. If we offer one in future, such as an optional cloud repair, it will be clearly labelled, it will upload a file only after you explicitly agree, and this policy will be updated first.

Shared report links

If you copy a share link for a report, the counts shown in the report (and, after a repair, the result and the engine used) are encoded in the part of the link after the # sign. Browsers do not send that part to the server, and our analytics removes it before recording a page address. The file name is included only if you tick “Include file name”. Anyone you give the link to can read what it contains.

Usage analytics

We use PostHog (US cloud) to count how the tool is used, so we can see what works and what fails. It records:

  • that a page was viewed, and its address without the # part;
  • tool events: a check or repair started, completed, failed or was cancelled, a result was downloaded, a share link was created, several files were added at once, or a link to Tripo was clicked;
  • summary numbers attached to those events: triangle count, the count of each kind of mesh issue, a file size range (for example 1–5 MB), the repair outcome, which engine produced it and why a step failed.

It does not record file contents, geometry, file names, or anything you type. Session recording and automatic click capture are turned off, and there are no accounts, so events are not linked to a name or email address.

FixSTL does not use cookies or local storage for analytics. PostHog keeps a random identifier in the page’s memory only, so it is gone when you reload or leave the page: we cannot tell whether two page views, or two visits, came from the same person. Like any web request, the request to PostHog includes your IP address, which PostHog can use to estimate an approximate location such as country and city. If you block analytics, for example with a content blocker, the tool works exactly the same.

The one thing a page writes to your browser for counting is a short note in that tab’s session storage when you click through from a shared report to check your own file, so that the next check is counted as coming from a shared report. It contains no identifier and is deleted when the check starts or the tab closes.

Where data is processed

PostHog stores analytics data in the United States. Cloudflare serves the site from its global network, so request data may be processed in the country nearest to you. Where personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we use a lawful transfer mechanism, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses (with the United Kingdom addendum), and appropriate safeguards where required. Contact us to request further information.

Hosting

The site is served by Cloudflare. As with any website, Cloudflare processes request data such as IP address, browser type and the requested address to deliver pages and protect the site against abuse.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal information, show advertising on FixSTL, or share analytics data with third parties for their own marketing. FixSTL is not directed at children under 13.

Your choices and rights

Because no analytics identifier is stored on your device, there is nothing to clear. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information we hold, to object to or restrict its processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Email privacy@tripo3d.ai and we will respond as required by applicable law.

Changes to this policy

If what FixSTL collects changes, we will update this page before the change ships and revise the date above.
